There is a lot of humidity in the air today. Which means two of two things…its gonna rain. You are probably saying ummmm ‘yeah Jakki…that would be correct’….That is NOT my main thing…the other one of two things is SPRING IS IN THE AIR! I don’t care what anyone says. That is how I see it. I’m kind of glad that its going to rain. My car so needs a wash. We had a basketball weekend and I kept expecting to come out to my car to the words ‘wash me!’ written in the dirt and dust. Yeah…its pretty bad.

Basketball weekend…. Jalil won his first medal!!!! They came in 3rd place and he was upset because they lost…very upset. I’ve got to help him with dealing with those pressure packed things. It was such a tense moment. Well let me back up….the night before the team they would have played in the finals…a couple boys from the opposing team tried to trash talk to Jalil. I kind of went back and forth on talking to the Coach about it but I let it go and talked to Jalil about how players do that. His dad talked to him about it being a mind game and that’s how other teams let you know that think you are a worthy opponent. He said ‘if they didn’t think you was a threat they wouldn’t even come to you with that isht…’ I wouldn’t have used those words but …well maybe I would.

Anyway….Sunday a couple of Jalil’s team mates got the same kind of trash talk treatment so one of the other parents went to the Coach with it. From jump the game was physical and intense. The boy that mouthed off to Jalil was guarding him and the whole first half they pushed and prodded each other. Jalil even smacked him although he didn’t mean to I gave him a high five (hey…I aint gonna lie to you. He didn’t know what the high five was for but I knew and that’s all that mattered). When we got possession the boy literally had one elbow in Jalil’s back/rib and Jalil was using his booty to push the boy off of him and finally the ref called a tech on the other boy. He pulled them aside and asked them what was up, they were good players but if they kept it up he would eject them. By the end of the 4th quarter with only a minute and some seconds left in the game the score was 40 to 38, them. Jalil had been put on the bench because he had 4 fouls but Coach brought him in during that last minute or so of the game but they trapped Jalil at every point so he could not put up the 3. Jalil took it sooooooo personal. He let the team down. Coach needed him. He wanted a gold. These are the things he said on the way home. I tried not to correct him or minimize what he was saying when he was talking because I know he needed to express it but later on, when he hung his medal up and he was smiling and laughing with Okoye I hugged him from behind and told him how proud I was of him. Not just because of basketball but he has GROWN so much since he has been on this team.

I had a conference with his education team Friday night and they raved on him. He’s getting an A in language arts which is…wow…amazing. A B+ in Science and Math, and a C in Social Studies. He’s raising his hand in class and even when he’s wrong it doesn’t stop him from trying again. He’s leading groups in classes. Able to stand up and recite. Just a lot of great things. He still has issues with taping his pencil, leg or making odd noises at wrong times but they recognize it for what it is, pressure, and they work with him on it.

Anyone watch the Grammy’s? The cutest song for me was the one by Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. I don’t know what the name of it was but they sang about being 15 years old. Jennifer Hudson…wow. I love me some Jennifer Hudson. Sugarland’s song, Stay, made me very sad. And wtf was MIA thinking??? She is a very pretty girl! You couldn’t tell it with the bubblebee/cow custom she had on. Good gravy I so could teach Justin Timberlake a few things…Okoye made me a CD and one of the songs on the CD was the song that T I and Timberlake performed. I didn’t care for the performance too much…the ending of it yeah, was good but it seemed to drag.

Miyagi does not like moon's... He is outside right now howling HOWLING...I'm sure I am getting cussed out right about now for all the commotion he is causing. At least I HOPE its the moon he's howling at and not some crazy man....

the forecast for expected rain means a car wash for me too. I love the warmer temps and can deal with the rain so long as it isn't ice!

I'm the same way... I can be happy on a rainy day but soon as I hear snow and ice in the forecast...I shut down...

Patrice, you and me both...you and me both.
