The last post for this....

but I'm thinking..'does it really have to stop?????

* ‘FRUIT AT THE BOTTOM’ should mean fruit at the bottom. I hate eating/purchasing yogurt with this advertised on the container only to find one cube of a peach. I know not to expect a whole peach but c’mONNNNN. One cube! It’s the principle of the matter
*
I think I should own stock in Orville Redenbacher popcorn… I don’t think I’ve even ate dinner in about 2 weeks because I am like….craving popcorn. I come home from work, eat a bag. During the process of cooking dinner…I cook a bag and then I’m not hungry once its done but by about 9 I’m starving so….’hey….there’s popcorn in the cabinet…I’ll cook some of that!’ And my kitchen cabinet/closet…..geez…I know there is at least 5 boxes of the stuff in there. My favorite is the Buttery Salt and Cracked Pepper…OH MY GAWD….that stuff is good. And then there is the Tender White. YuuuuuuuuuuuuuuMY. Any way…time to move on from my addiction

It has rained in Missouri almost every day for the past month. BLAH

WHICH MEANS…. I am taking tons of shots of storms, clouds and rain drops….
*
I so hate it when I can sense a man does not want to listen to a word I have to say because I am a woman. Well, I hate it when anyone doesn’t want to listen to me so I guess this is a mote point

THANKSGIVING IS COMING SOON! This is my favorite holiday. Even over Christmas.

Yikes! Christmas is coming soon which means it is almost the end of the year…where has the year gone too…there is something to that quote ‘“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”.

*there’s a lot going on here in the past several days. Death, of course, never feels right but when it’s a child…it really doesn’t seem right. When its found out that another child has taken that life…it rocks people to the core. A lot of emotions come out and I try to understand that people grieve differently and I respect that. I don’t understand some of the ways people are expressing it but I do respect it. That same sentiment is not held by others. While still reeling from that, a teacher took his life and then within a day from that….violence reared its ugly head in the form of threats being made about a shooting at the high school. All in conjuncture? Not sure but its a lot to handle in the past couple of days. I pray for peace for all families involved. I pray for God’s guidance and I pray that those that stand proud with the comment of ‘I’m a Christian’ actually act as that of a Christian.

Fun. Silly. Chaos. Laughter. Smiles.

That is what being a kid is all about.

Not...killings. Shootings. Suicide....Darkness.

I feel really good today. Don't know why. I feel calm and at peace. I feel joy. Happiness. ( and yes.. when it comes to God...there is a difference). I even feel...dare I say....sexy. Very good feelings to have and hold onto.....

Hi my name is Jakki. And I have self diagnosed myself as having SAD…

This is over the course of several years of....you know...actually dealing with me.

I’m not a happy go lucky person anyway (shocking stuff there, isn’t it??? but really…no…really I’m not.) but around this time of year…my ‘cave-dwelling mentality’ hits an all time high. Short of going on med’s…I up my dosage of natural sunlight as much as I can.

I LOVE sunlight. I do believe I walk not for the health benefit but because I love to be out in the sun. When I’m home every window blind is open. We are talking bedroom, kitchen, patio, deck, living room. ALL blinds are open. Gotta have it. if you drive by my house you might see me sitting in my chair, head back, soaking up the sun. if its cold (and it has been) you will see my bundled up from head to toe…but still, head thrown back, soaking up the sun. Gotta have it.

Well today…already…there is lots of sunlight and I am happy only with the anticipation of BEING in it at some point during the day. How WILD is that?

My drug of choice is… sunlight…not such a bad thing….

God really does speak to us...most times its in a whisper. We just have to listen. So today, I am saying.....I HEAR YOU! LOL

I found her blog through her blog and I respect this idea , MORE than any meme that I love, out there. And we all know, Jakki loves meme's...so here is my contribution....

Last night, Okoye’s high school was having what they called a College 101. It was to last for an hour and then they had the gym set up with several colleges in Missouri and a couple out of state colleges. He’s a sophomore but we’ve mapped his classes out for the next 4 years, since Freshman year, for going to college. So, I wanted to know what we could do NOW in regards to money, grades, ACT and SAT’s. I had already marked it on my calendar to go but Okoye surprised me Friday when he said he wanted to go with me. I’m glad he did.

He’s toured a college before so he’s seen the whole college atmosphere and I’m sure thought ‘hellyeah…this is what I want to do’ but has not grasped the whole idea of cost… tuition… boarding, etc.

Why is that when old mom and dad tell them something we have NO idea what we are talking about. But let a complete stranger tells my sweet sweet child the same thing…oh hell, it IS gospel!

My ex husbands wife is a professor at an out of state college. The past year or so me and their father have been talking about the kids going to school where she teaches for a BETTER (cheaper) tuition. Okoye, my son of course wants to go where most of his friends are going (Mizzou) and didn’t understand the big deal. NOW he understand the big deal. Now he understand how much college tuition is. He doesn’t like it but he see’s the light. My job is done here….

I love it that instead of hanging with a bunch of their friends they wanted to go eat lunch with us old folks. I love it that they have so much fun just being kids. I love it that they probably spent about 20 bucks paying for these little pieces of fake mustache/sideburns ( look closely...you can see them) but it was better than any $70 xbox 360 game. I love that, for now, at least they are happy being silly and being kids. And I also love it that they are mine....

Went to the doctor yesterday…for the yearly which is really, ummmm more like a 17 monthly because I am overdue with it. It’s funny, once I found out I was diabetic, all those doctors and specialist took over my life and I forgot/didn’t heed the basic regular doctor’s appointments. After signing in, there are two sides to it. One side had several people in it and the TV going while the other was empty. I went to the empty side to read.

Several people came in after me and sat over on the other side. Except one man. Older gentleman. He walked in and spoke in one of those tone’s that even I had to look up and see who he was. It wasn’t a sexy tone it was just…a voice that made me think of walking along a trail and listening to him reminisce. I went back to reading my book and I heard the receptionist ask him to have a seat and out of the corner of my eye, I seen him glance in my direction. He glanced over to the other side, turned back to my direction then headed my way. As he walked in front of me, with head buried in my book, he said in that tone/voice ‘don’t let me interrupt your reading young lady…just wanted to say hello’. As he shuffled over and sat down in the chair in front of me (mind you there are like 20 other chairs on that side of the waiting room). I looked up and I spoke but went back to reading. ‘what are you reading?’ I put that smile ( you know the one…Ima be nice but I REALLY want to be left alone) and told him that it was a book that I had for awhile but I loved to read it. ‘over and over??’ I chuckled and said yes. I then put my head down to keep on reading. End of conversation right? Nope. He wanted to know the whose, what’s and where’s about the book so I told him which led to one of the most interesting conversations I’ve had with an individual in a long time.

And it only lasted 30 minutes.

I wanted to take his picture so bad.

I can still hear his voice. He had a storyteller’s voice. The kind that just pulled you in. Made you want to hear the end, good or bad.

He would gaze off when he talked..looked into nothing but kept talking.

He’d rub the front of his ‘Marine’ hat as he talked about playing baseball in ‘56

Rocked his foot back in forth as he relived paying 25 cents (not a quarter but 25 cents…don’t know why that stood out to me either) to tour the Biltmore.

Driving to Tennesse and how beautiful it was. That I needed to do it if I hadn’t .

And it was only a 30 minute one sided conversation from him. It wasn’t about politics. It wasn’t about race. Nor religion. And I loved it.

The nurse came out and called out ‘John’ to which he turned to her and said ‘did you say John’ to which she said ‘you bet I did! Are you coming?’ he sighed and said I guess I will. When he stood up he looked at me, thanked me and told me to enjoy my book. The nurse looked at me and smiled really big and as she mouthed the word thank you another nurse came out and called my name. When I walked by the receptionist desk the receptionist… thanked me as well.

I don’t know what for but I have an idea. But today…I think I kinda owe him a thank you.

Enjoy your weekends everyone!

Adversity is not simply a tool. It is God’s most effective tool for the advancement of our spiritual lives. The circumstances and events that we see as setbacks are oftentimes the very things that launch us into periods of intense spiritual growth. Once we begin to understand this, and accept it as a spiritual fact of life, adversity becomes easier to bear-

Have a wonderful weekend...enjoy the sunshine if you can...it helps!
