Monday morning came WAY too fast for me…way to fast…. How was your weekend?

Just to let the record show ( that reminds me of the Cosby Show which I LOVED ) I am not a shopper. I do not like to shop. When I go shopping, I have a list or an idea of what I want...I stick to it and I do not like to come out empty handed. I do not like window shopping, trying on clothes and/or browsing. Nope…not for me. So when the hot water heater and the oven stopped working I immediately went on line and got an idea of cost, size, brands and an idea of what I wanted/needed to spend. By the time Saturday rolled around I had only two stores I wanted to go too. Suffice it to say…the men in my life, starting from my dad on to current… tend to LOVE TO SHOP. AND usually, end up grating on my nerves.

God is funny that way…

My oldest has his drivers license….yes...I have a few NEW gray hairs (which reminds me…I need to make a hair appointment). When we walked in the office, he opened the door for me and then held the door open for the young girl coming in behind us. I sat down and glanced up as the young girl jumped in front of him at the counter and he glanced at me as if to say ‘see what chivalry got me???’ and I looked at him as if to say ‘I don’t give a crap! You behave the way you were brought up!!!’ yes…our looks, between each other say a lot. But when his instructor came out to take him to our car, he held the door open for her. As she walked out she was exclaiming ‘well thank you!’ and he turned to me and gave a thumbs up to which everyone laughed. So far he is understanding that mama needs to take baby steps in handing over the keys....I wonder how long I can hold him off? Hopefully another 16 years…. Hmmmmm

Saturday night we went bowling and I bowled a whopping 35. No…that is not a typo. A 35….I suck. It was fun but I do not have photo’s. I had my camera but my batteries were completely dead which is shocking….usually as soon as I get that flashing warning light, I take the batteries out and charge them but I don’t remember getting any warning light. I did use my camera to take photo’s of my son getting his license and then at a basketball game on Friday but I did not get a warning light. My batteries are 3 years old so maybe I need to get me a new set….I will do that when I get a new camera which I hope will be SOON

Yesterday…I decided to make pancakes for breakfast…diabetes be damned! I haven’t had pancakes in about a year so yesterday I decided to make some. Really I had to make two breakfasts because my oldest doesn’t like pancakes so I made him his favorite which is bacon, sausage patties and runny scrambled eggs. For my baby boy and I, I made huge fluffy pancakes with butter and syrup….oh I was heaven…nothing like pancakes or French toast which I haven’t had in a year either…and that set the stage for yesterday. Raining days always make me sluggish but add the carb overload and I’m almost comatose. We did nothing but watch movies, play video games and every once in awhile I logged on the computer to see what everyone was doing. Around 3 in the afternoon, I decided to start a pot of gumbo and the smell from that….ummmmmmmmmmmm made me curl up on my couch with my green blankie…its not a full weekend until I can cuddle with my blankie , ya’ll….

So, like I said, Monday morning came WAY too early for me but, sigh….life has its own idea’s and whatever speed it wants to go…we just tag along for the ride, LOL. I have to say…I felt INCREDIBLY aware this weekend. It’s weird how my mind worked…it seemed like this was a busy weekend but I felt more aware of what was going on…things stuck out to me. I was more aware of things… things interested me in ways that I’m not used too…at one point Okoye was like ‘MOM! Who is that???’ because I was mesmerized by a group of people that were bowling a couple lanes down. Or as a saleman was talking to us…I noticed his body language enough that I knew he felt like he was wasting his time with us. I also noticed two mall walkers…a man and a woman. They were an older couple and he was so very….gentle… with the lady. They would walk side by side but when it came to them to go single file, he slowed his pace down so she could walk head but then…they would time their steps back together again. His right to her right…Her left to his left. I like that.

Anywho…back to the grind….have a good week!

I can't imagine how hard it is to stay away from the carbs...
but the "kind diet" book might help....it's really interesting how you can fill up on other food that even looks like a carb, but isn't....

my dad is diabetic and has a pump for his insulin....please take care of you !
