I haven’t really posted anything of actual substance (read: true sentences that form a paragraph that have an end result of telling some sort of story or explaining some sort of story) lately and I feel reallllly bad about that. I just haven’t really been into the blog that kind of way. My hobbies (that sounds so Tiger Beat to me) are reading, writing, scraping, and photography. But to look at it (blog) you would only think of the photography. I understand that some blogs pick one thing to be about and that is consistently what they are about. I read some photography blogs and that is all they do…post photo’s and spec’s. I like a couple spiritual blogs and I go to them for Bible scriptures and help in finding and understanding my purpose. Some blogs are funny. Some blogs are about nothing but everything. And then some blogs I like are just pure honey and they are a one stop shop for me and cover it all ( I see ya Christina…I so felt the magic you spun yesterday…talk about SWOON, lady…..you rock) . I want to have the blog where it’s a one stop shop. But lately….its been nothing but photo’s. which is fine…for one part of me.
Another reason why I have not been able to really blog blog like I want to lately is basketball is kicking butt and taking names in the Washington household. Between work and school, we have 7 am practices, after school practices, 5-7 practices (which really last until about 8), 7-9 practices (which really last until about 9:30), and then games….we manage actual life that amounts to about maybe 25 minutes of our lives on a daily basis…not much hang time, LOL. I’m not complaining. They love it and when they are not doing it, they miss it terribly. And if its something they truly love to do and its part of them, I support it whole heartedly(that doesnt look right). Basketball has also been a great leverage to use when I want something done, like NOW…I HAVE been known to say ‘if you cant get that attitude right, NO game and I mean NO GAME!’ Is that wrong, probably but hey…when I’m tired I will use anything to motivate.
I went and looked at camera’s….oh my. If only I had about 5000 bucks laying around! There are 3 camera’s I like, 2 are Canon’s and one is a Nikon. I want all 3…..if I have to chose, of course its going to be my one of my babies, the Canon family but this Nikon D….man….she’s a tease. I love to go when stores are not busy and talk to the tech people because when they are not busy and if they are real camera buffs….they use that time to TALK to you and not just to sale the camera and/or make a commission. They have fun showing you stuff. They tell you about themselves and what they use. Buy the time I left we had even opened up some boxes where camera’s weren’t on display JUST TO PLAY AROUND WITH IT. Really, one of the tech’s was saying that one of the Canon’s shutter speed was faster than one of the Nikon’s and there was another tech who didn’t agree. So we got them out just to check it all out. Talk about camera heaven…..
Speaking of heaven….this morning….sunrise was earlier than normal. Or I guess I should say we didn’t have the cloud cover that we normally have and when I left for work, there was actual PINKs and BLUEs to the sky instead of dark purple. So nice. I’d like to think warmer, sunnier days are not too far off. I’ve noticed more birds in the yard. That kind of thing (yes, I am wishful thinking but let me have what lil bit of hope I do have, thrive). If I weren’t tired I would have mustered up more than the ‘Thank you, GOD ‘ I did say for it but sometimes less is more, right??? Did anyone see the moon the other night? Where I am, it had a huge ring around it. I mean HUGE. I’ve got to look up what that means, if anything. I tried to take photo’s of it but I couldn’t get it all in the frame so I took sections of it. Still didn’t do it justice.
Ummm where were we???? Oh about blogging consistently and staying on topic…

Though there's a lot of comparison between Canons and Nikons, there's really nothing bad to be said about either. People seem to love both so you are okay either way I think. So, do I have too many photos? Do I need to write more?
you are catergorized under the one stop shops, LOL....I get humor, I get spirituality, I get beautiful photography. I get it all from you and now that you write over at Vision and Verb...I REALLY get your 'words'!
I started using the Canon because of the action setting. I need to be able to get the movement without the blur or the bad blur, I guess I should say, and the Nikon's that I used (borrowed) just dont have it. I will continue to look until I am completely comfortable with what decision I make ( I mean camera's are a pretty penny). I dont know if I've ever asked you but model camera do you use?
I'm making my way to you via Soul Aperture. I love how many of us are roaming the blogroads stopping to say hello here and there. So, hello to you. Happy almost-Friday.
I love photography too -- and I'm learning so much watching those of you who know what you're doing! I'm just learning, but loving it! I wish I could figure out the action photography--can't quite get it. Tomorrow is my son's last swim meet. He graduates this year (my baby...) and I so want to get a good photo.
I had to laugh about the Canon vs. Nikon comparison because I have a Canon and my partner and sister, too, both have Nikons. I LOVE the rivalry! :) I hope the techies also told you that you can have a Nikon or Canon body that is "normal" but use the best possible lenses (I use the red-ring lenses with my Canon) to make all the difference in the world. But if you don't have good composition skills to begin with, even good lenses don't help that much, right? So bottom line, it's all within you! :)
Love this post. It's real and true and right.
The moon was simply gorgeous here last night. They call it a "wolf moon." The first full moon of the year, and very close to earth. I thought I might reach out and touch it...
Happy weekend!
i too am looking around and asking a few tech questions about cameras.
thank you for your comments over at my place.
i am all talking to the screen at your post! ~ the camera talk got me going!
i adore canon, because i have worked with both. canon is less difficult to me.. and difficult frustrates me. that being said~ folks love nikon... they swear by it.
wait, did you say tiger beat? i used to adore that mag.
xo
funny...I have a nikon that keeps teasing me each time I go into the camera store, too....
darn her !
I use a pentax k-7 now and have all the lenses...so that nikon probably won't be coming home anytime too soon....
