my youngest son had open house last night. before we went, we were laying on my bed watching tv. he quietly says 'I'm scared about Simonsen ( his new school).' I swallowed, tried to be nonchalant and waited a few seconds before responding (my response is KEY in how he handles things) 'like WHAT makes you scared'. he shrugged his shoulders. okay...i didnt say anything for a few seconds and then finally i said 'new teachers?'. he shook his head no. okay. i waited a few more seconds and then asked 'new kids???'. he shook his head no...okay...waited waited and then finally he said ' its busy.' okay. so I got up from the bed..moved around the room...very casually i said 'this is where your breathing comes in good...when you feel nervous, scared or overwhelmed BREATHE..' he nodded so i continued ' always ask questions...talk to your teachers, ask for help' he nodded again. a few seconds later i said 'we always get through this dont we?'. he nodded and said 'yep'
now i'm nervous...

Let us know how the first day goes for him. I remember those first day nerves. New school nerves. I get them now for my grandbabies who all started a new school yesterday due to a move. It just about killed me. They handled it much better than I did. ;) I wish I could be a little fly and just flit from room to room with them all day long to make sure they are all OK. Now, I'll be thinking of your kiddo too. Wishing him the best day possible. Hugs to you both.
yeah... i understand. oh, how i do.
: )
blessings to you and the family. keep us updated.

If it makes you feel any better - his teacher was nervous too.
