Dooce is pregnant. Wow. I’m so out of the loop. Such is life.

~
Jalil had basketball games on Sunday. Very emotional time for him. The first 2 games, were tough on him but he still was having fun. Laughed with the other boys. Slapped hands with the other kids. Still managed to man the boards and take care of business. The last game, was really tough. I knew he was getting overwhelmed. It was a fast paced team. Very physical. He started exhibiting the signs…that he was overwhelmed and that he felt over in over his head And when he gets overwhelmed, he shuts down. I never know rather to tell people his situation. I don’t want him to be prejudged but then again I want people to have an understanding of what he’s dealing with. Anyway, after being knocked over a few times, the coach yelling at him several times and missing 2 easy layups, the coach took him out of the game. He tried to go sit at the end of the chairs but the coach sat him down beside him. Soon as he sat down, my baby put his head in his hands and started rubbing his head. I guess I was about to go Terminator Momma on him ‘cause my ex said ‘he’s okay…just hold on’. That was the worst 2 minutes of my life. Sitting there watch my baby cry. The coach kept leaning over and talking to him and then finally he put his hand on his back and kept rubbing his back. I’d glance at him every now and again but tried not to stare completely. Finally I just stared at him until he looked up and soon as his his head came up he looked into my eyes. That connection we have with our children is UNfreakinbelieveable. Coach said something to him and he nodded and he stood up to get back into the game. Several people stopped us after the game to shake Jalil’s hand or slap him on the back, which for the first time, he enjoyed (he doesn’t like a lot of physical contact from strangers). And now, tonight is Okoye’s turn. Here’s a couple shots from yesterday

LOL...thanks for caring...I was VERY proud of him for getting back in the game. He said that the coach was asking him (Jalil) if he was upset or mad at him (the coach) so as long as he showed some caring to him I guess the coach can live on.
