The Jay’s Homecoming officially started on Monday but we didn’t take part until last night, Thursday. The parade was last night so we loaded up, my oldest son’s girlfriend in tow, and headed for it. Sometimes I feel strange going to parades now because, of course, my kids are too old to be going for the Goodie Store Bag Full of Candy that used to get thrown at them but I love to go and take pictures. Parades bring laughter smiles and a good time. Except sometimes, teenagers need to be whooped. I’m going to start complaining here so in answer to your question…Yes I remember what it was like to be a teenager but I was never rude or disrespecting. Here are my complaints…

When there are 15 of you, do not stand in the middle of the sidewalk and try to stare me down when I say ‘excuse me’ to get by. I am NOT walking in the street, endangering my life just so all of you can figure out what you are going to do next. Oh! And just so you know…I can take you.

Girls girls girls!!! Your friends name is not Bitch. Tramp or Hoe.

I understand certain boys have not required the smoothness and ease of talking to members of the opposite sex so they are still doing the immature acts of get the girls attention…but chasing her around throngs of people….not cute. Really, its not.

Running over toddlers for a sucker…and laughing about it….I almost whooped your butt myself.

Groping each other…yes. You are in love but holding hand is not a bad thing.

Thinking your butt has bumpers on them so you cross on the ‘do not cross’ and shrug your shoulders when police got on the bull horn to say ‘the sign says do NOT cross’.

Cussing does not equal grown up.

I’m going to stop because I’m sure it appears that I do not like teenagers when in reality I love them. Dearly. I just wish that…God, this is going to make me sound so old and out of touch but I just wish they would just settle the hell down sometimes. When corrected, yes most teenagers will give this look of ‘oh, I had no idea and old lady was around!!!’ and apologize or just walk off. I'm sure I was called all kinds of names when I was out of earshot but you know...most times I could care less.

I will post pictures later…

It's okay to be a part of the cycle, aka old lady. Young bucks must "rebel against authority" but I think that there is a HUGE difference between wanting to be rebellious and being disrespectful assholes.
